Naval Encyclopedia arrived to the 1000 articles mark this day !
Started back in 2010, now on 2024, that’s indeed 14 years on the web. The domain name was deposed on 6 September 2010. It is also based on the former 1996 site navistory.com (which still exists by the way).
Naval Encyclopedia is the first online warship museum. Dedicated to the history of all ships of the industrial era and 20th century, so 1820 to this day and earlier, much, earlier times. The brave old ship however will probably have a new overhaul in 2026, depending how it goes from there, with a new hull and brand powerplant better fit for its 1,172 pages (1000 posts + 172 pages). Read between the line, no longer wordpress which reaches it limits.
Anyway, i want you thank all of you for following and supporting this site all these years.
A big thank you !!!
Now, about plans for 2025. We are not there yet, still 5 months to go, but the pace would certainly be calmer (1 article a week), although there are scores of subjects to cover:
Submarines and destroyers of all nations, from WW1 to the cold war, frigates, corvettes, attack crafts and gunboats, sub-chasers and minesweepers, amphibious attacks ships, marine forces, rewrites of old posts, but also paper ships, projects, there’s no shortage of ideas.
A quieter pace will enable to complete also work on new posters, and complete camouflage variant reviews of many ships along the way.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask !
