New Navy ! The Moroccan Navy

Once the most formidable naval force in the Western Mediterranean under the Almoravids, the country was under protectorate from 1912 until 1956. The Moroccan Navy was created in 1960, April 1st, by King Mohammed V. So its modern history is indeed recent, and it grew exponantially until reaching today 7,800 personal (including 1,500 marines), 121 ships and 17 aircraft, including a fleet of AS565 Panther. Unlike Algeria its procurement is formly aligned to the West. It’s a regional blue water navy capable of projecting power far in the Mediterranean, Red sea and Atlantic, taking part in many multi-navies exercises.
