New fleet: The Chilean Navy in the cold war (1947-1990): After the interwar only substantial naval plan and mutiny, the Chilean Navy went into a period of intense crisis, which went all through WW2. In 1946 started a renewal of the naval forces, with new acqusitions from the US (two cruiers, several destroyers), Britis frigates, destroyers and submarines. It reached its maximum extension in the 1980s with the acquisition of a former Swedish cruiser and four ex-County class missile destroyers. Complete organization, history, services, shipyards, bases, policy, roles, and classes of ships in service, from 1946 to this day.
